Davao Light supports preparations of public schools for possible return of face-to-face classes

Though students are still in their homes for the modular learning due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. together with the Aboitiz Foundation continue to deliver its commitment to support the Department of Education (DepEd) in its Technical Vocational (TechVoc) Program.

Last April 16, Davao Light officially turned over a refurbished and fully-equipped electrical laboratory (e.Lab) to A. O. Floirendo National High School in Panabo City, while electrical tools and equipment (e.Lab Plus) were also turned over to La Paz National High School and Alejal National High School in Davao del Norte.

The e.Lab and e.Lab Plus projects are for learners under the K to 12 curriculum who are taking up the Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Course once the face to face or blended learning will happen soon. The facility, tools and equipment will help them prepare and be equipped with skills that will open doors to employment.

Each school received multi testers, different kinds of pliers, wire strippers, hard hats, screwdrivers, pipe threaders, safety spectacles, drills, pipe benders and a fiberglass ladder.

“Davao Light would want to equip these schools ahead of time so that they will be ready with the facilities by then and hopefully can cope better with the lost time through actual or hands on skills training,” said Davao Light Panabo Branch Manager Engr. Paul Michael Cazar during the turn over.

Cazar also added that Davao Light will continue to collaborate with DepEd, the LGU of Davao del Norte, and even with other stakeholders and turn the challenges into opportunities to help.

It has been a long time since Davao Light, DepEd, and the LGU of Davao del Norte became partners in providing support, especially in the area of education.

Davao Light has already awarded a total of 37 electrical laboratories or e.Labs to different public high schools within its franchise area.
