Davao Light released the First Nest of Sea Turtles for 2024

A TOTAL of 175 newly hatched hawksbill sea turtles were released by Davao Light and Power
Company Inc. (DLPC) at Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, Punta Dumalag, Davao City on March 19 with
the year’s first batch of newly hatched Hawksbill sea turtles.

According to Davao Light, the first nest of the year brings the total number of released
hatchlings to 9,237 since 2014.

The pawikan release was led by Fermin Edillon, Reputation Enhancement Department Head of
Davao Light and Power Co. together with the Aboitiz Foundation Inc., the Chinese Consulate
Davao, Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong, and other guests and organizations.
Moreover, Fermin Edillon also highlighted the importance of publicizing such events to gain
support from different local, national, and national organizations.

“We can’t do this alone, nay nanag-iya probably sa lugar diri, but we still need help (We can’t
do this alone, probably someone owns this place, but we still need help)” he said.

For now, they continue to invite people who visited the park to their next pawikan releases to
publicize the presence of this conservation effort in the city.
