THE DAVAO Fashion and Design Council Foundation, Inc. is preparing for its yearly Fashion Charity Gala, blending glamour with a noble cause. This year, in collaboration with Discovery Samal, The Stellar Fashion Gala will be held at the Samal Grand Ballroom, the resort’s newest and biggest venue, on Sept. 28, 2024.
The gala will highlight a 100-piece luxe resort apparel collection using innovative tropical fabric blends of piña, cotton, abaca, and bamboo developed by the DOST Philippine Textile Research Institute.
The esteemed designers who will showcase their works at the event include Aztec Barba, Dodjie Batu, Emi Englis, Popoy Barba, Edgar Buyan, Egay Ayag, Windel Mira, and Benjie Panizales.
The b.Loom Project is hosting a gathering to showcase exquisite organic materials from Mindanao and support local weaving communities. The Kawayarn Luxe Resort Collection, known for its intricate weaves and vibrant colors, will be spotlighted and crafted by renowned local artisan designers from the Davao Fashion Designers Council.
The event aims to blend contemporary fashion with sustainability for the betterment of the local community.
A significant portion of the proceeds will be directed toward the men, women, and children of the b.LOOM Project Weaving Communities through the Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation, Inc., a foundation that reaches out to grassroots communities.
The event will be held at The Grand Ballroom of Discovery Samal, the first and only Discovery Resort brand in Mindanao with the biggest resort convention facilities in Davao.
