THE DAVAO de Oro Provincial Health Office revealed on Thursday that it’s closely monitoring three suspected Monkeypox (Mpox) cases in the province.
Based on data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU), there are two suspected cases of Mpox in the municipality of Maco although only one of them is confirmed and recovered.
Meanwhile, one suspected case was recorded from the municipality of Nabunturan.
As of press time, the patients are being isolated and closely monitored, including their identified close contacts.
The Department of Health-Davao reiterated that Mpox can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, contaminated materials, face-to-face contact such as close talking, sexual intercourse, and being exposed to respiratory droplets of someone who has Mpox.
Mpox transmission can be prevented through physical distancing, regular hand washing using soap and water, wearing of face masks in public places, proper ventilation, and disinfection of shared spaces.
