Davao City welcomes new police chief

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) will have a new director starting Friday, March 22.

Colonel Richard Bad-ang will replace outgoing director Colonel Alberto Lupaz in a turnover ceremony at 2:30 pm at the DCPO headquarters in Camp Leonor Domingo, along San Pedro Street.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte will be the guest of honor and speaker during the turnover.

According to DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon, Bad-ang is currently the Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao chief, the equivalent of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)’s Eastern Mindanao Command. Bad-ang is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) class of 1998.

Previously, Col. Bad-ang served as the Intelligence unit chief of the Davao City Police Office and the Police Complaint Review Board (PCRB). He also served as the chief of Central Visayas’ Philippine National Police (PNP) finance service.

Meanwhile, the city police spokesperson stated that they have no information yet on the next assignment of Col. Lupaz as he is still awaiting orders. Lupaz served as the city police director from February 14, 2022, to March 19, 2024.

Col. Bad-ang will lead about 2,425 strong forces of the Davao City Police Office, including the 19 police stations in the city.
