DAVAO City was ranked as the third safest in Southeast Asia based on the 2024 Numbeo Safety Index garnering a safety index of 72.5.
Numbeo Safety Index is a global database that assesses urban safety through crime rates, law enforcement efficiency, and citizen perceptions.
The safety index listed Chiang Mai in Thailand as the top 1 with a 76.5 safety index followed by Singapore with a rate of 76.5.
Among the other cities that made it to the top 10 were Penang, Malaysia; Hanoi, Vietnam; Makati, Philippines; Bangkok, Thailand; Iloilo, Philippines; Pattaya, Thailand; and Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
In 2023, Davao City was ranked as the second safest with a safety index of 72.4. In 2022, the city was also third with 71.6.
In a separate report, the Davao City Police Office said in a statement that “it is committed to ensuring safety and security while acknowledging the support of village officials, residents and the local government.”
