Davao City Police Office warns vs. vote-buying, vote-selling

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) reminded candidates, their supporters, and voters about being penalized for vote-buying and vote-selling.

Acting city director Col Hansel M. Marantan emphasized that vote-buying, which involves offering money or inducements to influence voting, and vote-selling, which involves soliciting or accepting such inducements, are serious violations of the Omnibus Election Code (Batas Pambansa Blg. 881).

These offenses are punishable by imprisonment, disqualification from holding public office, and the loss of voting rights.

Marantan is urging all Davaoeños to exercise their right to vote wisely and responsibly by upholding the sanctity of the ballot.

The DCPO called on the public to be vigilant and report any instances of vote-buying or vote-selling to the authorities.

“Let us work together to ensure clean, honest, and peaceful elections,” Marantan stated. “Following these guidelines is not only a legal obligation—it is a moral duty to preserve democracy.”
