AUTHORITIES apprehended a visitor after attempting to smuggle suspected shabu estimated to be worth P680,000 into the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (Dapecol) in Barangay Tanglaw, Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte, on Dec. 20.
The incident unfolded after personnel from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) stationed at Dapecol frisked one large sack wrapped in transparent cellophane containing a white substance believed to be meth.
The prison guard immediately flagged the package, wrapped with black electrical tape and hidden in the right lower portion of a visitor’s pajamas during the routine inspection.
The arrested suspect is now in the custody of the Braulio E. Dujali Municipal Police Station under the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) for proper documentation and the filing of charges.
Brig Gen Leon Victor Rosete, Police Regional Office XI director, commended the prompt response of the Braulio E. Dujali Municipal Police Station, which led to the recovery of the illegal drugs.
He also lauded the vigilance and dedication of BuCor personnel in intercepting the contraband, emphasizing that such proactive measures help prevent illegal activities within the penal colony.
