THE DEPARTMENT of Education-Davao City will start rolling out the Dabawenyo Dciplinado modules as part of the curriculum next year.
The city government and DepEd-Davao City launched the Dabawenyo Dciplinado modules on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Teodoro L. Palma Gil Elementary School.
“Through the commitment of our educators, the support of our partners, and the collaboration of our community, we ensure that these lessons will resonate in the lives of our Dabawenyo learners, shaping their character and strengthening their sense of social responsibility,” Reynante Solitario, DepEd Davao City schools superintendent said.
Through the program, the city prioritizes self-discipline as a core value to be taught to learners.
“The modules, thoughtfully crafted to mirror our city’s rich cultural and historical tapestry, teach the moral virtues essential in fostering empathy, accountability, and respect for all—women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, the LGBTQ community, and every individual,” Solitario stressed.
City Ordinance No. 0552-24 provided that Dabawenyo Dciplinado will be integrated into the curriculum.
The pilot implementation will be initially taught to Grade 6 and Grade 10 students in January 2025. DepEd Davao City logged 56,000 learners for both grade levels.
The lessons will be incorporated into the regular class, specifically in Values Education, Araling Panlipunan, Makabayan, and Good Manners and Right Conduct.
Included in the module are subjects discussing civic duty and community involvement, adherence to legal requirements, gender equality and cultural sensitivity, self-discipline, and moral conduct, information and digital ethics, environmental stewardship, culture of security, and financial literacy.
