Dabaw City Sports Council to host summit for athletes

THE DABAW City Sports Council (DCSC) will hold the Davao City Sports Summit this coming November to develop the next generation of athletes and leaders.

In collaboration with the Philippine Sports Commission Mindanao, DCSC aims to improve athlete welfare and development and create sustainable grassroots sports development in the city.

The summit will focus on untapped potential in sports such as youth development, world-class talents, sports tourism, and windows of opportunity. It also creates a better future for Davao City and the Philippines through multi-stakeholder collaboration in sports.

In an interview, DCSC coordinator Hilton Soberano said they will be inviting experts from different sectors such as psychology, nutrition, and development to gather many insights and reinforce meaningful engagement in sports during the summit.

He is also expecting 100 participants to attend the Davao City Sports Summit.

According to DCSC president Dexter So, the date and venue of the summit are still being planned with a target date of Nov. 14 and 15.

Two upcoming forums will be conducted before the summit launch in October. A forum for the government, academe, and youth sector for Oct. 11, and a forum for business, tourism, and private sector for Oct. 12.
