DA XI notes stable supply of meat, poultry this Christmas

THE PRICES of meat and poultry for the holiday season will remain stable due to sufficient supply, the Department of Agriculture (DA) XI said.

Dr. Karl Laurence Pineda, the DA XI Alternate Livestock focal person, said the demand might still push up the prices of meat slightly despite the stable supply.

Based on government data, the price of pork is about P300 per kilogram and eggs are sold at P8 apiece.

Pineda said they are also prepared to support commercial farms affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak through its livestock program.

Ang buong Davao region is dili pa gyud siya totally free sa ASF, every areas or towns, ginahatagan nato sa ilaha og will nga mag-apply gyud for the lifting of categories. Wala pagyud ma-lift ang uban sa ilang red zone status, especially sa may Davao del Norte area,” he said.

Currently, Davao City is in the “pink zone,” also known as the buffer zone, which means the city is now certified ASF-free as per DA’s declaration.
