‘Culture of security’ infomercial launched at City High

THE TASK Force Davao (TFD) partnered with the Department of Education and City Information Office in launching the culture of security infomercial at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) on Wednesday, July 19.

Col Darren Comia, commander of Task Force Davao, said the infomercial is part of the TFD’s effort to shift the focus of its culture of security campaign toward grade school and high school students.

The aim is to heighten young people’s awareness of the security and safety situation in the city and encourage them to take a more empowered role in maintaining peace and order.

Aside from Comia, those who graced the launching included Mayor Sebastian Duterte, Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay, Davao City Police Office deputy city director for administration PLtCol Jed Clamor, Special Office for Children’s Concern OIC Consorcia Ronquillo, DepEd Schools Division superintendent Reynante Solitario, DCNHS educators, student representatives, and their parents.

In his speech, Duterte said embedding a culture of security among young people is crucial in producing proactive citizens in the future.

Dili lalim ang lugar kung asa situated ang Davao City–naa ta sa region, naa ta sa area dira sa atong nasud na there is an imminent threat outside of our borders (It is not easy where Davao City is situated—where in a region, we are in an area here in our country where there is an imminent threat outside our borders),” Duterte said.

Though Davao City has shown its resiliency repeatedly, Duterte said maintaining the peace remains challenging, requiring the participation of all facets of the community.

Solitario expressed the DepEd’s full support for the initiative. He urged all grade schools and high schools to play the new four-minute infomercial during school ceremonies, programs, sports events, and other activities.

Teachers are also encouraged to show the infomercial to their students.
