Cuarto is new IBF world minimum champ

 

 

 

Rene Mark “Might Mouse” Cuarto (center) is the new International Boxing Federation World minimimweight champion after beating Pedro Taduran Jr. at the Bula Gym at Gen. Santos City.

Rene Mark “Might Mouse” Cuarto used his left uppercut wisely to dethrone Pedro Taduran Jr. and became the new International Boxing Federation World minimimweight champion via unanimous decision, February 27 at the Bula Gym at Gen. Santos City.

All the three judges scored at 115-113.

The 24-year-old Cuarto of Davao City now has 19 wins with 11 knockouts against two loses and two draws while Taduran dropped to three setbacks against 14 wins and one draw.

Cuarto kept on hitting Taduran using his left while the champion was attacking him.

Taduran of Albay kept on chasing Cuarto with his left-right short punches. They slipped four times.

Cuarto said that they studied Taduran’s style and countered it.

“Gihandaan nako ang style niya (I prepared his style)” said Cuarto.

Meanwhile, World Boxing Organization Oriental bantamweight champion Vincent “Asero” Astrolabio of Gen. Santos City easily stopped Jerry Pabilla of Cotabato in the 1st round with 2:49 for main supporting event.

The other supporting events are:

Orlie “D’ Kalibre” Silvestre beat Bonjun Loperez by a unanimous decision;

Genisis “Cobra” Libranza knockout John Mark “Iceman” Apolinario in the 1st round; Reymark Ibones settled a technical draw with Ramel Antaran.
