BY GIO TANUDTANUD

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office will enforce road closures for the new route in the upcoming Parada Dabawenyo of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw 2024 this Mar 17.

During the iSpeak Media Forum at the City Hall on Mar 14, CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said they will clear roads for the new and shorter parade route that will stretch for a total of 1.5 kilometers from start to end.

The route will be similar to the past parades starting at Roxas Avenue, with road closures enforced at Jacinto and Mabini streets and ending at San Pedro Street.

The new route will showcase C.M. Recto Avenue more as participants will go right to Rizal Street, turn to left Anda Street, and finally turn left to San Pedro Street instead of going to Bonifacio Street and Pelayo Street.

“So medyo maka luag luag ta sa atong experience karon sa atong mga motorista og sa atong mga traffiko,” he said.

He said they notified motorists of the non-parking zones for the parade route, beginning at 10 p.m. on March 16. Traffic enforcers will conduct a clearing operation at 12 a.m. on March 17 as the Parada Dabwenyo starts at 6 am. The road closures will end at 4 p.m. in preparation for another road closure at 7 p.m. onwards for the last Araw ng Dabaw event the “Hugway Dabaw” concert.

Abude said they will deploy 269 traffic enforcers for the parade with 31 working overtime for the evening event.
