CTOO warns against online tour scams and bogus offers

THE CITY Tourism and Operations Office has advised Davaoeños to deal only with travel and tour operators with government business permits and not to fall victim to scams or bogus offers.

Generose Tecson, the Chief of the City Tourism and Operations Office (CTOO), in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio Friday, said that Davaoeños should always check for the business permits of the establishments offering travel and tour packages.

“Let us all be responsible consumers. Please po siguraduhin na may tourism license, kasi ang online sa Facebook hindi nakalagay ang address mobile number lang (Let us all be responsible. Please make sure that they have a tourism license because on Facebook they do not have an address but only mobile number),” she said.

She added that the Davao City Tourism Facebook has the updated list of licensed tour guides in Davao City as of March 29, 2022.

Tecson warned that the lowest price packages do not guarantee that business is safe.

“Kahit na mura ang offer, hindi ibig sabihin safe. Be responsible. This goes the same as kumukuha ng wedding packages online make sure na may business permit (Even if the offer is affordable, it doesn’t mean that it is safe. Be responsible. This goes the same for those who are subscribing wedding packages online. Make sure that they have a business permit),” she said.
