CTOO Head: Pasko Fiesta opening ‘a 10/10’

The opening of Pasko Fiesta 2019 has been a success, a city tourism official said.
Generose Tecson, City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head rated the opening of the grand event as 10/10.

“I am very happy that the opening is very successful, the people of Davao seems to enjoy it, and most especially the children are able to see and feel the joy of Christmas,” she said.

The toy factory-themed Pasko Fiesta features colorful Christmas lights and decorations, the cheerful crowd, soulful Christmas carols, and classic entertainment.

“I can see that people are happy and surprised by the performers and programs, especially when the aerialists appeared and when we lit up the whole City Hall compound,” she said.

Despite the threat of rain, residents remained to witness more performances and entertainment provided by the city government. Children marveled at the 3D lighting presentation at the City Hall facade. The light show also tried to instill a lesson and explain what Christmas is all about.

The event was attended by the different department heads, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, partners from the various national offices, security forces, officers-in-charge, deputy mayors, partners in the private sectors, and some friends from the diplomatic corps.
While there is also an influx of people around city Hall, law enforcers cordoned off the area.

The Pasko Fiesta also includes different activities until the end of December.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sara Duterte, in her speech during the launching, was grateful to see the faces of the people who attended the kick-off ceremony.
“We chose the Toy Factory theme because Pasko is for kids and the kids at heart. We hope that this display will make the children of Davao City happy, and bring smile across the faces of both the young and the young at heart,” she said.

“We also chose this theme to remind ourselves that Christmas is the time for giving and sharing our blessings especially to those in need,” she added.
Duterte, however, reminded the people of the danger that firecrackers may cause.

“I also remind everyone the dangers of firecrackers. You may lose life or limb and burn your houses and you also endanger the lives and properties of your neighbors. Let us be mindful of our merry-making,” she said.

She also lauded the people behind the success of the said event.

“This Christmas, let us be a gift to others, let us make this season even more meaningful by thinking beyond ourselves and by being a Davaoeño for others,” she said.

“As we pray and celebrate this Christmas season, let us reflect on our core values for the next three years as we move forward as one Davao, and how we can be the best version of ourselves—a Davaoeño who is disciplined, competent, and with integrity.”
