Council approves deal on PCSO aid

The City Council recently approved an ordinance allowing City Mayor Sara Duterte to deal with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on the P10 million financial assistance for indigents patients.

Councilor J. Melchor Quitain, chair of the committee on rules, privileges, laws, and ordinances, introduced on Tuesday’s session the proposed ordinance relative to the P10 million financial assistance of the PCSO for healthcare services under the Pagkalinga Para sa Bayan program.

Under suspended rules, the Council passed the measure allowing the city mayor to sign the memorandum of agreement.

The Pagkalinga Para sa Bayan is a one-stop shop for the medical assistance Programs of PCSO, PhilHealth, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which delivers health services to indigents and those low in resources admitted in government hospital.

In the city, it is located inside the compound of Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) designed for convenience among indigents who may avail of the services of national and local health agencies.
