THE COMMISSION on Elections XI (Comelec) on Wednesday reminded all candidates who ran in the 2025 national and local elections to remove campaign materials as soon as possible.
During the Kapihan sa PIA press conference, Atty. Gay Enumerables, Comelec XI assistant regional director, said candidates have until May 17.
“Ang atong mga campaign materials we have until kasi five days from election na dapat matanggal na siya,” Enumerables said.
She recognized the candidates of Davao City who started removing the campaign posters on the night of the election.
Those who fail to remove posters will be subject to an election offense.
This is in line with Section 30 of the Comelec implementing the Fair Elections Act for the May 2025 elections and Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections.
“Without need of notice, the candidates shall remove or cause to remove all their election propaganda at their expenses or for whose apparent benefit the election propaganda materials have been produced, displayed, and disseminated,” the resolution reads.
Section 31 of the resolution stated that all materials taken down or confiscated should be disposed of in accordance with the guidelines set by the commission.
Comelec added that candidates and parties are encouraged to conduct activities such as tree planting for the purpose of carbon offsetting.
“Hindi dito nagtatapos ang responsibilidad ng mga tumakbo sa eleksyon. Maging huwaran sa tamang pamumuno,” Comelec said.
