Coffee, cacao featured in Davao Food and Wine Festival ‘24

THE DAVAO Food and Wine Festival 2024 will highlight coffee and cacao for its second year’s celebration held on October 4 to 27, in partnership with the Department of Tourism.

Monica Floirendo Ugarte, Coffee, and Cacao Experience chairperson, said the two crops would further boost Davao City as an ideal place for such an experience.

We are an important region for these two crops and aside from that we want to promote these small businesses,” Ugarte said.

Ugarte added that this is also a way to celebrate business owners, crop growers, baristas, and chefs in their respective food and businesses.

“There is a lot of creativity that goes into these two crops especially when it comes to chefs making their interpretation, that is why it is a good celebration for these two crops because Davao has a very strong coffee culture and we also have very good chocolate small business culture,” she said.

She added that the unique process of coffee and cacao makes it more special, such as its growing, roasting, and promoting stages.

The coffee and cacao experience activity will run from Oct. 5 to 6 at Ayala Malls Abreeza’s activity center, showcasing 28 booths participated by coffee and cacao business owners mostly from Davao City, and some chefs from Manila who use Davao cacao products.

The activity will be highlighted with cacao to chocolate tasting by Treena Tecson and the Davao Tableya Mixology Competition, forums and videos, and presentations of key sectors.
