The city council yesterday approved an ordinance to give P4.25 million to residents affected by floods in Luzon.
City councilors convened Thursday to hold a special session to tackle the help to the victims of the flooding caused by heavy rains brought by a series of typhoons that hit the country this month.
Based on the approved ordinance, the City will give P4.25 million that will be taken from the 30% of the Quick Response Fund (QRF) of the Calamity Fund of the City Government.
The financial aid of the city government will be given to the municipalities of Lingayen, Sta. Barbara and Calasiao, and Dagupan City in Pangasinan; municipalities of Paombong and Marilao in Bulacan; municipalities of La Paz and Ramos in Tarlac; and municipality of Masantol in Pampanga.
Except from Masantol that will get P250,000, other local government units from the list will receive P500,000.
Earlier this week, the provinces of Cavite and Pangasinan were already declared under a State of Calamity.
The flooding caused severe damage to the business and agricultural industries in the locality. At least 19 individuals reportedly perished.
For the month of July, four typhoons hit the country – Typhoon Gardo on July 3-July 12, Tropical Storm Henry on July 15 – July 24, Severe Tropical Storm Inday on July 17 – July 24 and Tropical Depression Josie. Due to the series of typhoon, southwest monsoon have been extremely active in the country.
As of July 26, damage has been recorded at ₱1.37 billion.
