City initiates sportsfest for Civil Service Month

THE CITY Sports and Development Division organized an event for city departments for September in celebration of Civil Service Month.

Mikey Aportadera, City Sports and Development Division head, said the sportsfest will consist of different activities that workers might find destressing and fun.

Para at least matagaan pud og chance ang atoang mga trabahante na kugihan kaayo manarbaho to destress themselves with their daily work and pressures,” Aportadera said.

The sportsfest will begin on Sept. 1 at 5 a.m. with a 3-kilometer and 5-kilometer run to be followed by the Aero Marathon, awarding of competitions, as well as a cheer dance competition on Sept. 4.

Aportadera said they will announce the schedules for other events like basketball, volleyball, darts, and chess, among others.

He also said they will manage to do a skeletal force or scheduling so that workers will be engaged in the activities without having to leave their offices empty. The event is in accordance with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Resolution No. 1901265 or the Guidelines on the Development of Mental Health Program (MHP) in the Public Sector circularized via CSC Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 4, series of 2020, which states that “the government should encourage workers in activities like physical fitness, teambuilding, regular stress management, arranged peer counseling, support groups, and interest groups,  to boost employee’s well-being.”
