City gov’t task force starts inspecting Marilog resorts

All the tourism and business establishments in Marilog District were inspected by the task force Tuesday, May 22.

The task force was composed of the City Tourism Operations Office, City Planning and Development Office, Barangay Cultural Communities and Affairs Division, City Environment and Natural Resources, Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Treasurer’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Assessor’s Office, and the office of Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre.

In the morning, the team inspected four resorts in Datu Salumay. These resorts are located in a landslide zone and conservation area.

As of 2 p.m., Alejandre said the inspection was still going on.

However, the councilor cannot yet disclose what legislative action to take as he has yet to discuss with the members of the team to come up with a collective recommendation.

City Administrator Zuleika T. Lopez has issued a memorandum for the team to conduct an inspection on all tourism and business establishments at Marilog District on Monday.

On March 20, a resolution creating a task force that will inspect tourism resorts in Marilog District and Times Beach in Matina was passed on suspended rules.

Based on the records there are 30 inland resorts in Marilog but, so far, only Seagull Mountain Resort and Hill 88 Hideaway have business permits.
