City gov’t, Poland eye areas of cooperation

THE city government and Poland are looking at hospital construction, waste management and digitalization as possible areas of cooperation.

These were the issues discussed when Poland Ambassador Jarosław Szcepankiewicz paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Sebastian Duterte during his visit to the city last week.

The Poland official told the mayor that his government has developed a waste management technology that has become popular in the world and can be used in hospitals, construction sites, tourism, and residential projects.

The official has even offered the technology to the city government in more affordable terms.

“We will try to build this for Mindanao/Davao as Poland has technology for water waste management (for hospitals and non-medical settings), hospital equipment, infrastructure and medical technology. Hospital waste management is a huge, huge problem because there is not a lot of technology to do it.,” he said.

Duterte pointed out the need for the city of more healthcare facilities as well as the need for waste management technology.

The delegation from Poland also offered assistance in digitalization and connectivity noting the challenges in internet connectivity in the city.

The ambassador was also in the city to attend the Polish Film Festival at the Cinematheque Center Davao.
