THE 20TH City Council approved the ordinance incorporating the “Dabawenyo DCplinado” program into the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum during the regular session on Tuesday, July 9.
Ordinance No. 0552 aims to cultivate a deep appreciation for discipline and develop well-rounded individuals with strong moral character among students. Dabawenyo DCplinado will merge with the Values Education, Araling Panlipunan, Makabayan, and GMRC subjects within the DepEd curriculum.
Councilor Jonard Dayap said, “This program is the first of its kind we want to implement in the city, aiming to equip students with discipline, signifying advancement for Davao City.”
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) with DepEd will launch the program to over 57,000 grade 6 and grade 10 learners. Plans are underway to expand the program to include private schools, higher education institutions, out-of-school youth, and barangays.
