CHO: 1 MPOX case already recovered

Dr. Sofia Corazon D. Zafra

THE CITY Health Office revealed on Monday the other patient who tested positive with Monkeypox has already recovered.

Dr. Sofia Corazon D. Zafra, CHO City Emerging & Re-emerging Infectious Disease Medical coordinator, said they confirmed the latest diagnosis through the active monitoring of the case.

“Currently, he is okay,” Zafra said during the iSpeak Media Forum on Thursday, April 24.

On April 16, CHO stated there were two Monkeypox cases detected, and one of the patients has passed away.

However, the Department of Health clarified in a statement on April 18 that the patient did not succumb to the infectious disease but was already in a severely immunocompromised state. The government insisted there is no increased danger and no change of alert status for Mpox despite the two cases.

The patient was immediately cremated to control the spread of the virus.

Zafra added that individuals traced to have immediate contact with the two Monkeypox cases  showed no signs and symptoms.

“Currently, lahat naman nga gi monitor natin is asymptomatic,,” she added.

CHO is still closely monitoring all identified close contacts, and established response measures and protocols for Mpox are currently being implemented. Meanwhile, wearing a face mask is strictly voluntary with no mandatory protocol issued by the health department.
