The Commission on Higher Education denied allegations that they are pushing to stop the K-12 program.
CHED chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III called out a left-leaning youth group for false accusations and for twisting his statement.
“I castigated Kabataan Party-list because they are twisting my statement. I am not calling for the stop of the K-12 program of the government. That is DepEd’s implementation and responsibility,” De Vera said.
De vera added that there was a wrong interpretation of what he said in the media.
“What we are changing in the CHED is the use of the K-12 transition fund. This is different from the K-12 program in senior high,” de Vera said.
According to de Vera, the review was “because when the K-12 was enacted into law, there was a concern about what would happen with the affected teachers and affected universities, that is why, the government created the K-12 transition fund given to CHED, DepEd and DOLE to help during the transition.”
The review is to check the problems in the projects implemented using the K-12 transition funds.
“I am not proposing a review or a change in the K-12 program of the government because that is under DepEd. What we are reviewing in CHED is the K-12 fund to help universities and professors during the transition,” he further clarified.
