- DCPO set to file raps vs 6 individuals in condo twin murder case
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) anticipates filing charges against the six persons of interest in July in connection with the April 21st murder of Jeffrey Predas and Jennifer Chavez inside a condominium along J.P. Laurel Avenue.
“We are still awaiting the results of a request made by the Bajada Police Station, and hopefully, we can file the case against the persons of interest next month,” Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson for the DCPO, told reporters at the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
The six persons of interest will face charges for two counts of murder, Tuazon confirmed.
In a May 23rd interview on Senator Raffy Tulfo’s online program, former DCPO director Col. Richard Bad-ang said the luminol test conducted on May 22nd revealed potential blood traces.
“We’re investigating the possibility that others were involved in carrying Jeffrey to the sixth floor after he arrived in Davao on April 20th at 5 pm, while Jennifer arrived at 8 a.m.,” he explained.0
The reenactment suggested the involvement of additional individuals. “Their fingerprints on the railing, before the fall, could confirm the Scene of Crime Operatives’ findings that Jeffrey was already dead when thrown.”
The investigation also revealed four additional persons of interest who checked into the same sixth-floor room with an acquaintance identified as Clark from Sultan Kudarat. Clark had booked the room for Jennifer ahead of her arrival for a concert on April 21st.
Investigators found no signs of forced entry into room 319 or evidence of a struggle. “Blood was concentrated on the bed, weapon, and bathroom,” Bad-ang said. “DNA tests on these items and the couple and two persons of interest came back negative.”
However, footprints near the bathtub did not match those of the four individuals. “This suggests someone else was present during the incident,” Bad-ang concluded.
Bad-ang’s interview on Senator Tulfo’s program came after the victims’ families sought the senator’s assistance to expedite the investigation.
