Central 911 employee dismissed from service for role in shooting

The city government has terminated the services of a Central 911 employee after he and his co-employee found violating quarantine protocols that led to the death of his colleague.

In a statement Tuesday , Emmanuel Jaldon, Central 911 chief, said that the employment of Reego Vismanos was terminated after he and a colleague, Joaquin Fordaliza, got involved in a shooting incident in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao last May 8.

The incident resulted in the death of Fordaliza as the incident happened as the city was still uder the strict enhanced community quarantine.

“Vismanos and Fordaliza’s trip to Maguindanao was unofficial,” Jaldon said, noting that the incident has been a subject of police investigation.

“Obviously, however, there was a flagrant disregard of the measures that the City Government of Davao put in place to fight the spread of the deadly Covid-19,” Jaldon added.

Because of this, the agency chief said, the services of Vismanos at Central 911 are being discontinued “effective immediately.”

“Let this serve as a reminder for others that the City Government of Davao does not tolerate personnel who boldly defy policies — setting a bad example for others,” Jaldon said.
