Cebu Pacific Named Airline of the Year at the Philippine Sports Tourism Awards

Cebu Pacific was named Airline of the Year by the Philippine Sports Tourism Awards (PSTA), in recognition of its outstanding support for the country’s sports tourism industry in 2023.

CEB was honored for its contributions to the continuously growing sports tourism industry in Siargao, a popular surfing destination in the Philippines. Launched in 2009, CEB’s flights to Siargao made it easier for tourists and athletes to visit the island, further establishing it as a global hub for water sports.

“By connecting people to Siargao and other sports destinations, Cebu Pacific has helped fuel local economies, fostered community pride, and put the Philippines on the global sports tourism map. We are proud to be more than just an airline, we are a partner in building experiences that inspire, challenge, and unite,” said Strawberry Angeli Mercado, CEB Sales Manager for Visayas and Mindanao, who accepted the award on the airline’s behalf in a ceremony held on November 22.

The Philippine Sports Tourism Awards, now on its sixth year, honors organizations that excel in promoting the synergy between sports and travel, celebrating their contribution to economic and cultural growth. CEB’s recognition reflects its role in making key sports tourism destinations more accessible to travelers, fostering opportunities for both leisure and competition.

In 2022, CEB also bagged the Airline of the Year from PSTA in recognition of its support for the Filipino athletes who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

CEB operates in 35 domestic and 27 international destinations spread across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
