Canada seeks biz opportunities

A TOP official from the Embassy of Canada visited the city on February 21 and 22 to explore opportunities for collaboration between businesses in Davao City and Canada.

“Our mission is to promote Canada-Philippine commercial relationship,” said Senior Trade Commissioner Guy Boileau during a courtesy meeting with Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte (accompanying photograph is courtesy of the City Government of Davao Facebook page).

Boileau expressed interest in several areas, including agriculture, BPO outsourcing, agri-exports, and education. He also highlighted his special interest in the energy sector, particularly solar farms.

“We recently had a high-level economic dialogue with the Philippine government where we discussed collaboration on infrastructure, culture, education, agriculture, and security,” added Boileau.

Before the courtesy call, Boileau and Embassy representatives attended an Investment Briefing with the Davao City Investment Promotion Center. The embassy also organized a Business Forum on February 22.

The visit of the Canadian official is a promising opportunity for businesses in Davao City to strengthen their ties with Canadian businesses and expand their reach in international markets.
