Bus drivers reminded vs picking up outside DCOTT

BUS drivers are again warned against picking up passengers outside the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) as part of the security measure to ensure commuter safety.

Aisa Usop, DCOTT manager, said the City Traffic and Transport Management Office personnel are assigned to apprehend bus drivers who will violate the “no pick-up policy.”

“The loading and unloading of passengers should be in the DCOTT only, as reiterated by a board resolution on no pick-up policy,” Usop said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps on March 20.

This reminder is for the Holy Week, which she said means 50,000-75,000 passengers will flock to the terminal on March 24-31.

Usop said despite the warning, bus drivers still pick up passengers along the road, especially fronting the Department of Interior and Local Government on MacArthur Highway and Buhangin Gym based on the complaints received by their office.

She added they coordinated with the South Mindanao Bus Operators to inform their drivers that the policy still stands. The public is also advised to board only in the terminal and follow terminal-to-terminal policy despite the inconvenience.

“We are doing everything to secure the public, so we prioritize safety first over convenience,” she added.

The CTTMO said passengers may report their complaints against drivers who pick up passengers outside the terminal. The office will issue citation tickets to violators.
