The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through its social development arm, BPI Foundation (BPIF), has partnered with Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) to launch a resource video series titled “Estudyantipid,” which aims to promote financial wellness among Junior and Senior High School students in the country. Committed to strengthening its initiatives on Financial Education, BPIF continues to empower young Filipinos with essential financial knowledge and skills.
For the past 24 years, KCFI has been a key stakeholder of the Department of Education, producing and disseminating K12 curriculum-based video lessons through broadcast, online, and offline channels.
“Gaining insights on the importance of saving and budgeting at an early stage is crucial to have a strong foundation in financial literacy. Estudyantipid complements our commitment to help build a better Philippines—one family, one community at a time,” said Carmina Marquez, BPIF Executive Director.
“Together with our partners from Knowledge Channel, we are equipping the next generation with the skills they need to make informed financial decisions, fostering a culture of saving and promoting sustainable growth for all Filipinos,” Marquez added.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) identified the younger generation as one of the vulnerable sectors, and this includes students who are in basic education. Through its partnership with KCFI, BPIF is set to significantly expand the reach and influence of its financial education resources as the video lessons will be made available to wider audiences.
Studies have shown that utilizing multimedia is imperative for better learning, and video lessons are tested and proven to be relevant and effective learning tools. To aid the implementation of the program, BPIF will produce resource materials, including a 15-to-17-minute video lesson that covers the principles of financial wellness.
“We are pleased to partner with BPI Foundation and other educational stakeholders. Together, we are taking steps toward building a more financially literate Philippines—one where young people are equipped to make wise financial choices, secure their futures, and contribute to the prosperity of our nation,” said Rina Lopez, KCFI President.
The “Estudyantipid” video series was launched on September 13, 2024 at Ernesto Rondon High School. The videos will be broadcasted on Knowledge TV and made available to 10,000 public schools nationwide connected to Knowledge Channel. Additionally, the videos will air on A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, One Media, Direct-To-Home, and Sky Cable. The full episodes will also be accessible online through Knowledge Channel’s YouTube Channel at @knowledgechannelorg. The program is expected to benefit 5 million students nationwide.
