Bong Go provides aid to Jeepney accident victims in Panacan

SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and his Malasakit Team swiftly responded to a jeepney accident in Davao City on Friday afternoon, Aug. 9.

The accident, caused by slippery road conditions due to rain, left several passengers injured.

The jeepney, carrying 15 passengers, skidded and lost control on the busy route to Panacan. Go, who was nearby, personally coordinated with emergency responders and ensured the injured were rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for immediate treatment.

He also provided each passenger with cash assistance to help with their immediate needs. “In situations like this, every second counts. We immediately responded to ensure no time was wasted and our fellow citizens were safe,” Go stated.

He encouraged those injured to seek further assistance from the Malasakit Center at the hospital. Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops designed to help indigent patients reduce their hospital bills.

Go, the principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, highlighted the program’s impact. With 166 centers nationwide, it has assisted approximately ten million Filipinos, according to the Department of Health.

“We will continue to serve you because service is my passion. I believe that service to people is service to God,” Go emphasized, reaffirming his commitment to helping Filipinos in need.
