Bomb experts clear unattended package at Ecoland terminal

THE EXPLOSIVE Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) responded to the reported unattended package at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22.

According to the report, DCPO quickly deployed the bomb squad after receiving the distress call from Central 911 regarding a package with no known owner inside the Philtranco bus.

The bus driver told police that the baggage was handed to him and requested to be delivered in Manila on Jan. 21. However, the supposed owner did not pick it up.

Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, along with their K9 sniffing dog, checked the contents of the bag. Fortunately, there was no bomb inside. Instead, it contained five pieces of limestone, six pieces with 1,000 mesh dry Limestone Pamex, and two plastic cellophanes of sea sand.

The said items are now in the custody of the Davao City EOD and Canine Unit (CECU) for proper disposition.
