A GROUP of lay faithful will kick off its 30th anniversary celebration with a charity fun run dubbed “We Pray. We Serve. We Run” on April 28, 2024.
During the AFP-PNP press briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on April 3, Noel Venus, stewards for management of Bukas Loob sa Dyos (BDL), said the event aims to raise scholarship funds for the children of Matina Aplaya’s fisherfolks.
Organizers are inviting both BLD members and the general public to participate.
Venus encourages the public to join the said event as this will help the beneficiaries.
“We entice our members and also the outside runners to join us because our purpose of this is to raise funds for the scholarship of hope,” he said.
Noel Roelano, run director, mentioned four race categories are available–21K elite, 20K immediate, 5K fun run, and 3K family run.
The race will start and finish at People’s Park, with different start times for each category.
As of April 3, there are already 400 registered runners, with 80% being young participants. BLD hopes to reach 1,000 runners to support the cause.
