The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) has helped some small businesses continue their operations amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
In a press release, DCCCII bared that it has provided these small trades with channels in order to help them especially during the pandemic where accessibility to goods and services pose a challenge to suppliers.
DCCCII Vice President for Industry Cherrylin Casuga said: “The first initiative was organizing a Buy Lokal community viber group to match suppliers and buyers of various goods that can be delivered under quarantine rules. More than 50 establishments are part of the group.”
Aside from that, DCCCII also launched the “Bankerohan on Wheels: DCCCII Tulong-Bayan Program,” a mobile market that provides service to people by bringing them fresh and affordable fish, fruits, vegetables, and other basic food supplies.
Through this, it has been able to link suppliers and buyers to maintain the exchange of goods and services and sustaining the food supply in the city during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
It has also been able to maintain social distancing, mitigate the spreading of COVID-19, and at the same time, and provide market opportunities to the people.
At present, there are vendors who already got their food passes from the city government and are now receiving orders from buyers all over the city especially those who are having problems with accessibility to the markets.
By providing market opportunities, local market vendors are benefitting from the said project, along with the accessibility to goods and services to the people.
According to some online markets and palengke delivery services, the volume of fresh food being moved through delivery palengkes has grown to around 1,000-2,000 kilos per day.
