Bags disallowed DCPO bans backpacks in polling precincts

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will strictly implement the “No Backpack Policy” in polling precincts on elections day.

Davao City Police Office Director Col. Alexander Tagum said any bag enough to store a bomb will not be allowed inside the polling precincts.

Tagum said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) made the request to deter any terroristic act.

The police director is asking every voter to refrain from bringing big bags to avoid any delay in entering the polling precinct.

The DCPO, he said, has also prepared security measures in the perimeter of Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School where President Rodrigo Duterte will cast his vote.

“We have continued force coordination with the Presidential Security Group,” Tagum said.

The school at the Barangay Matina Crossing is expected to be crowded in the coming election as residents are anticipated to flock to see the president.

In the last barangay election, the president did not show up at the school to cast his vote.

During the City Peace and Order Council meeting yesterday at a local hotel, Tagum said they discussed the security plan for the coming mid-term national and local elections including the security for the opening of classes. The campaign on the eradication of the New People’s Army in the communities was also discussed.
