  • Davao City High wins Indak-indak sa Kadayawan 2024

The Davao City National High School- Sining Sayon Dawet Cultural Ensemble defended their throne as they triumphed over six competing contingents of the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan 2024 city schools-based category.

City High performers stunned the judges with their performance featuring “Pandag”, a traditional Maguindanaon healing ritual.

Apart from receiving P1 million peso cash prize, they will also receive a P25, 000 worth gift certificate for Best in Streetdance, P30, 000 each from Bingo Plus PH and Pocari Sweat.

They were also awarded Best Music, Best in Choreography, and Best in Artistic Design- with P50,000 each.

Meanwhile, Sining Mananayaw Ensemble of Catalunan Pequeno National High School won 2nd place, third placer was Lapu Lapu Elementary School Performing Arts Company.

Batang Bago Gallera Performing Arts Guild of Don Enrique Bustamante National High School took the 4th place, while Lacson Performing Arts Guild of Lacson Integrated School took 5th place.

For the open category, Balangay City High Performing Arts of Mati NHS, Davao Oriental National bagged Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan 2024 open category.

Their performance highlighted the peaceful coexistence of multicultural identities of indigenous tribes in the city.

The city’s name originated from ‘Maa-ti’, a Mandaya word that refers to the largest creek that dries up quickly even after heavy rains, which is a metaphor of Matinian’s resilience amid catastrophes.

Apart from receiving P1.1 million peso cash prize, they also got P30,000 each from Bingo Plus PH and Pocari Sweat.

The group bagged all the special awards, receiving P25,000 for Best in Streetdance, and Best Music, Best in Choreography, and Best in Artistic Design- with P50,000 each.

James L. Chiongbian National Trade School Performing Arts Guild all the way from Kiamba, Sarangani won 2nd place, while the third placer was Banayan Performing Arts “Kanato Ini” from Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

Binhi Children’s Theatre and Dance Ensemble of ASCB of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur took the 4th place while Caraga Mandaya Performing Arts Ensemble of Davao Oriental went home with 5th place.
