ASU to clear roads at Bankerohan Public Market

THE ANCILLARY Services Unit (ASU) will start implementing road clearing operations involving street vendors surrounding Bankerohan Public Market to ease the traffic situation in the area.

In an interview, ASU head Paul Bermejo said they are coordinating with the City Transport and Traffic Management Office for the traffic and re-routing schemes to make it more orderly for pedestrians and motorists alike.

“If the CTTMO will begin to prepare for the public pay parking spaces such as painting yellow boxes and installing signages, we will also be accommodating these displaced vendors inside the Bankerohan Public Market,” Bermejo said.

Bermejo noted that according to their expanded team, there will be more than 250 vendors transferred inside the public market near the Marfori and Bankerohan area.

He stressed that once the CTTMO completes its operation, the ASU will immediately confiscate products from market vendors selling on the streets. Obstructions such as tricycles and mobile stalls will also be immediately removed.

“The issue here is that those who buy their goods and services usually park their vehicles in the middle of the street, as well as those who deliver their products,” he added.
