Arrest yields drugs

AUTHORITIES seized P500,000 worth of shabu while serving the arrest warrant on a city-level target in Barangay 23-C around 7:35 p.m. on Sept. 20.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office, said intelligence personnel served the arrest warrant for robbery against Dodge Quitel Eulogio, 39, a construction worker residing in Purok 6, Barangay 23-C.

The warrant, with Criminal Case No. 5854, was penned by Hon. Dante Lyz N. Viacrucis of RTC Branch 6, Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur.

During a search, officers found 15 sachets of shabu, with an estimated street value of P506,532, in Eulogio’s possession. The suspect is currently in police custody for booking.

The seized drugs will undergo qualitative and quantitative examination at the Davao City Forensic Unit while the non-drug evidence will be turned over to the evidence custodian.

Just last week, on Sept. 17, another city-level drug target was killed when he allegedly fired at Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel. The suspect, identified only as alias Boss, was the first fatality in a drug-related operation under acting city director Col. Hansel Marantan.

Prior to Marantan’s assignment, the DCPO and the city government have been under fire for the series of deaths in drug-related operations. The fatal buy-busts resulted in the mass reshuffling of police station commanders.

Marantan said the DCPO remains committed to its campaign against illegal drugs. The ongoing effort is carried out in close coordination with other agencies to eliminate the drug trade within the city.
