THE 10TH Infantry (Agila) Division prevented the communist terrorist group (CTG) from reinfiltrating the insurgency-free barangays after three successive armed encounters killed two high-ranking leaders at the boundaries of the Davao Region on Nov. 18 and 24.
During these operations, Major Mark Anthony Tito, 10ID Public Affairs Office chief, said the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion neutralized Mutong Bago of the Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Peddler, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), on Nov. 24.
The encounters, which took place at Barangay Kipaypayon and Barangay Lumintao in Quezon, Bukidnon, resulted in the recovery of an M16 rifle and various war materials.
Similarly, the 67th Infantry Battalion neutralized alias Jerby, the commanding officer and Political Instructor of the Regional Sentro De Grabidad (RSDG) of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC), and recovered one M16 rifle during an encounter in Barangay Marfil, Rosario, Agusan Del Sur on Nov. 18.
Brigadier General Allan D. Hambala, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, emphasized that the NCMRC and NEMRC posed direct threats to an insurgency-free Davao Region as both CTG regional committees attempted to reinfiltrate and reorganize their lost mass base at the boundaries to discredit the government.
“The people of Region XI supported by the local government units and different government agencies, worked hand in hand in attaining an insurgency-free Davao Region. Hence, we call on everyone to be consistently vigilant and help the government prevent the CTG infiltration by continuously supporting the government’s efforts for peace and development,” Hambala added.
From Jan. 1, 2023, to date, the 10ID recorded nine armed engagements against the CTG outside Region XI.
