- 125 students received medical assistance after Davao quake: CDRRMO
THE DAVAO City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) initially reported that 125 students from eight barangays received medical assistance following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake at around 3 p.m.
During the iSpeak forum on Sept. 8, Ezzra James Fernandez, CDRRMO operations assistant, said the affected students experienced panic attacks, which caused breathing difficulties and might have been due to improper evacuation by the schools.
“Sa atoang operations center, atoa dayong gi-deploy ang Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee to cater to our patients,” Fernandez said.
He said 46 students were from Matina Crossing; six students from Catigan; six students from Toril Proper; 24 students from Mintal; 13 students from Baguio Proper, 28 students from Calinan; one student from Cabantian, and one student from San Antonio.
Based on their monitoring, 37 students were turned over to hospitals, and 88 students were treated onsite.
As of 6:20 p.m., Fernandez said they have observed minor damage in schools such as in Calinan National High School, Saloy National High School of Barangay Saloy, and Doña Asuncion Hizon Elementary School of Barangay Pampanga.
Schools with moderate cracks tracked by the CDRRMO assessment team were Doña Carmen Denia National High School of Barangay Toril and Magsaysay Elementary School of Barangay Magsaysay.
Meanwhile, three houses in Purok 10, Barangay Sirib, Toril District reported moderate to major cracks, while eight houses had minor cracks.
The CDRRMO continues to conduct assessments on government structures and schools to ensure the safety of the occupants.
