Agency continues focus on providing vaccines vs COVID-19

THE Department of Health has continued its focus on luring more people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, especially the senior citizens and other priority groups.

Health Assistant Regional Director said Monday that as of May about 71.6% of the priority groups have been provided with shots against the virus.

“We also have a very good performance in terms of protecting the senior citizens in different municipalities. We have (the) data that many municipalities have reached beyond 70 percent among senior citizens that are vaccinated,” she said, adding that this group must be protected from the severe effect of the infection.

She pointed out the collaboration of the office and the  local government units in ensuring that the priority groups are immediately inoculated.

This developed as she expressed her gratitude to the medical workers, particularly the frontliners who have been doing their best to provide care to those that need it.

“*(Because of) the courage of frontliners we are also able to accelerate the systems that need to be accelerated,” she added.
