THE ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) strongly denounced recent attempts to spread false information and tarnish the reputation of the military.
Specifically, the AFP has refuted claims made by retired Brigadier General Johnny Macanas Sr. in a radio commentary, calling his remarks “unfounded, misleading, and uncharacteristic of any military officer.”
The AFP emphasized the professionalism and loyalty of its soldiers and warned against those who seek to undermine their commitment to their mandate for personal gain or political agendas.
In a separate statement, the AFP also dismissed reports alleging that several generals walked out of a recent command conference as “fake news.”
Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla, AFP spokesperson, confirmed her attendance at the meeting, emphasizing that it concluded on a positive note.
The conference, held at Camp Aguinaldo and led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., reportedly focused on the situation in the South China Sea.
AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. stated that President Marcos instructed the AFP to de-escalate tensions with China in the disputed region.
The President also expressed his gratitude to the Filipino soldiers for their unwavering dedication to defending the country’s sovereignty and interests.
The AFP urges the public to remain vigilant against disinformation and to report individuals and channels that spread false narratives.
