AboitizPower’s Therma Marine, Inc. Leads as Maco’s Top Taxpayer

Maco, Davao de Oro – Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), has once again been recognized as the top Real Property Taxpayer in the Municipality of Maco, Davao de Oro. The company was also named the second-highest Business Taxpayer, reaffirming its commitment to local economic growth and development.

The recognition was highlighted during the State of the Municipal Address (SOMA) of Maco Mayor Voltaire Rimando, attended by Davao de Oro Provincial Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, Second Congressional District Representative Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, local officials, business representatives, and community leaders.

Mayor Rimando commended TMI’s contributions, emphasizing the company’s role in sustaining Maco’s economic growth and enhancing public services.

Beyond tax contributions, TMI actively invests in community development through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including COVID-19 vaccination support, the donation of a fully furnished science laboratory to Maco de Oro College, the provision of sewing machines to the Maco Council of Women, disaster response equipment for barangays, and support for the Philippine Coast Guard and BFP-Maco. The company also holds annual Brigada Eskwela programs and outreach initiatives for indigent families.

TMI’s upcoming initiatives include the turnover of equipment and materials for the tsinelas-making livelihood project of the Maco PWD Federation and the completion of a water system in Brgy. San Roque. The company is also preparing for Brigada Eskwela with DepEd this May.

AboitizPower subsidiaries in Mindanao have also been recognized for their tax contributions. Therma South, Inc. (TSI) in Binugao, Toril, Davao City, has repeatedly been awarded as the top real property taxpayer, while Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI) in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte has received similar recognition in its locality.

As one of Maco’s top taxpayers, TMI is a key driver in the municipality’s economic progress, contributing to its first-class status while creating local employment opportunities through its contractors and service providers.
