AboitizPower Thermal Group commits P69M in Nationwide Community Projects for 2024

Partners in Progress. Beneficiaries and representatives of Therma Visayas, Inc. (TVI) celebrate its MOA signing ceremony, kicking off 15 new community projects for the year.

AboitizPower Thermal Business Group (AP Thermal) committed a total of ₱69 million for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects across its partner local government units (LGUs) and communities nationwide. This commitment underscores the company’s role not only as the leading power provider in the Philippines but also as a dedicated partner in nation-building and community empowerment.

In partnership with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI), the AP Thermal will implement a total of 87 corporate social responsibility (CSR)projects this year through its eight thermal power plants strategically located across the country. These projects were developed in collaboration and consultation with local communities, government units, and relevant agencies, focusing on critical areas such as education, health, and disaster resilience.

Collaborative Future. Annual consultations are held with local leaders, education officials, and government partners to identify sustainable solutions and develop progressive projects for the communities.

“Through this Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing event, we not only strengthen our commitment to our mission of energizing the islands, but we also enhance the quality of life in the areas where we co-habitate, through our community development efforts, and of course strengthen our relationship with you, our partners”, says Atty. Alona Ruyeras-Borromeo, Assistant Vice President for Corporate Services in Mindanao.

The MOA signing ceremonies across the thermal sites were attended by partner LGU officials, agencies, cooperatives, and other beneficiaries. John Paul Pantino, Senior Assistant Vice President of Therma Power Visayas, Inc. (TPVI), added, “At AboitizPower, we understand the profound importance of building strong relationships with the communities we serve. Our Group Promise – a pledge to advance both business and communities hand in hand – reflects this commitment. By joining forces to uplift our community, we can cultivate enduring value that transcends generations.”

This year, our Group will continue to support nearly one hundred high school and college scholars through our scholarship programs. We are also offering NC II skills training for livelihood projects at our VisMin sites in partnership with TESDA. Furthermore, we are collaborating with local government units on disaster resilience initiatives to enhance community preparedness and response.

Enduring Commitment. AboitizPower continues to develop sustainable projects and empower communities while providing dependable power for a better future.

Additionally, the Group’s CSR initiatives are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that the projects contribute to global goals of progress and sustainability. This alignment not only enhances the impact of their projects but also allows for a comprehensive approach to community development that addresses both local and global challenges.

“We’re not just here to provide power, but also to empower the lives of Filipinos. We are here to usher everyone to the energy of tomorrow by taking care of the energy needs of today. We can’t do this without our continuous partnership with you”, added Lito Morta, Regional Chief Operating Officer for South Luzon and NCR.

As AboitizPower forges ahead, its strategic partnership approach lays the foundation for sustainable progress, empowering communities to thrive while continuously providing reliable and reasonable energy to the nation. Through its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development, the Thermal Business Group is shaping a future where economic growth and societal well-being go hand in hand, creating a lasting legacy that transcends generations.
