Aboitiz Foundation, DLPC ink MOA to support three Davao NGOs

THE ABOITIZ Foundation Inc. and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to further support three non-government organizations in Davao City, in a ceremony held at the admin office on Feb. 28.

The total amount of P2.2 million will be allocated to Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation (P100,000 cash assistance), Davao Historical Society Inc. (P100,000 financial aid), and Southern Philippines Medical Center, which will receive P2 million to be utilized for the hospital’s wellness park.

Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, Aboitiz Foundation president, said, “The ceremonial signing of three Memorandum of Agreement represents a shared commitment to uplifting our society, nurturing our cultural heritage, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services in our region.”

Councilor Pilar Braga, Davao Historical Society chairperson, thanked Aboitiz and DPLC for allowing the organization to further preserve the culture and heritage of Davao City.

“The Davao Historical Society stands committed to pursuing our objectives, and that is to make history, a living history in the city of Davao. The officers of DHS were all committed to fulfilling our obligation in this partnership,” Braga said.

The Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation Inc., chaired by Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, is a non-profit organization established to bring about pastoral instruction Communie et Progressio, elaborated by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and Aetatis Novae approved by Pope Paul VI.

Dr. Ricardo Audan, SPMC Medical Center Chief II, also shared that the P2-million grant will be spent for the beautification of the Wellness Park, which is aligned with the Department of Health’s 8-Point Agenda, “Sa Healthy Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.”

“We understand the challenges faced by the government in securing funds, often prioritized for medicines and machinery only. Hence, partnerships with private sectors, such as the one with Aboitiz Foundation, become invaluable in driving sustainable initiatives,” Audan added.
