Abandoned newborn rescued

A NEWBORN boy was found abandoned by a 61-year-old farmer in Purok 7, Barangay Lacson, Calinan District around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.

According to Captain Hazel Tuazon, Davao City Police Office spokesperson, said the infant’s umbilical cord was still intact.

She said the caretaker of the area heard the child’s cries prompting him to check where the sound was coming from. When he found the baby, he immediately called the Barangay Lacson chief and the Calinan Police Station.

The child is now recovering in a private hospital in Calinan.

The Calinan Police Station is tracking down those responsible who may face a charge for abandoning the infant.
