A haven for motoX and e-scooter enthusiasts

WITH THE continued rise in fuel prices, Rhowell Matias “Bornok” Mangosong, also known as the King of Philippine Motocross, along with his buddies and business partners Andrea Dizon, Garry Ayuste, and Pipoy Dizon, once thought of coming up with a business that will address the current challenges.

“We wanted a venture that will benefit the community. So, we came up with our own electric scooter brand,” said the Dabawenyo Philippine National Motocross champion. Mangosong and his partners recently opened BM111 Powersports Co., a one-stop shop for motocross and off-road gears, lifestyle merchandise from Grind, and home of their very own Jupiter Electric Scooter.

Assembled locally, with parts coming from Taiwan and China, Jupiter Electric Scooter is the signature product of their flagship store situated along JP Laurel Avenue.

“We came up with a high-quality product that’s not only environment-friendly but also affordable to the masses,” he said.

Their e-scooter is powered by a 1200W 48V 20A lead acid battery, which enables it to run up to 60kph. It can be charged for just 4 hours and can be used for the entire day. When fully charged, it automatically shuts off to prevent over-charging. The unit comes with a large utility box, equipped with modern LED lights, and packed with all-digital controls. For security, it has auto lock, keyless control, and rear wheel lock.

BM111 Powersports Co also offers a one-year warranty for their e-bike and batteries, spare parts, and after-sales care.

“Jupiter has undergone testing and certification to meet necessary safety and regulatory standards in the Philippines,” Mangosong shared.

Their e-scooter, priced at PhP75,000, sold more than 200 units to date. It is now available at their Davao store but they also ship nationwide.

When asked why they named their product Jupiter, he said they wanted a name that is associated with something that “grows big, abundant, or superior – Jupiter being the king and ruler of the Olympian gods.”

Mangosong and his partners initially ventured into manufacturing sprockets for dirt bikes at the height of the pandemic.

“It was a bestseller nationwide because of its durability. It is important to us that our clients always get their hard-earned money’s worth,” he added.
