ELEVEN additional Starlink satellite kits and solar panels arrived at the Comelec’s Office of the City Election Officers in Magsaysay Park on Thursday, May 8.
Of the 11 sets, six will be deployed to the second district, four to the third district, and only one to the 1st district; iOne Resources Joint Venture with Ardent Networks Inc. (iOne JV), delivered the units at 8:50 a.m.
To note, most of the 37 Starlink devices previously delivered to the city were installed in the first congressional district.
In an interview at her office, Atty. Shajani Ebrahim, 3rd district election officer, said the four devices will be deployed to Ladian Elementary School in Marilog, Tamayong ES, Talandang ES, and Mulig ES.
“Kaning apat for third district, ang isa sa mga lisod og signal, out of 370 clustered precincts,” Ebrahim added.
She stressed that there are no problems with the network connection for those clustered precincts that did not ask to be installed with Starlink.
“If the clustered precincts will not be able to transmit sa voting center nila because of lack or weak signal, they will try to transmit three consecutive times. If hindi pa din, bababa sila sa nearest voting center,” Ebrahim said.
If the transmission is delayed, they will be advised to proceed to the transmission hub, which will be situated in the Bolton Elementary School.
The six other Starlinks will be deployed to clustered precincts in Tapak and Salapawan of Paquibato District.
On the other hand, Ebrahim said the Final Testing and Sealing of automated counting machines continued on Thursday, which was supposedly on Tuesday, March 6, but was rescheduled due to the defective USB.
“We just have to remove the defective USB, replace it, and then you can proceed,” she said.
The affected voting centers include General Roxas Elementary School, Popo ES, Lacson Integrated School, J.V. Ferriols ES, Ramon Magsaysay ES, Crossing Bayabas National High School, Jesus V. Ayala, Alambre Elementary School, Quezon ES, San Isidro Integrated School, San Miguel Integrated School, Batolusa ES, Tugbo Central ES, Anecito Brabarona ES, Anecito Barbarona Elementary ES, and Gumitan ES.
The USB replacement arrived on Wednesday, May 7.
